Thank you Stockholm. Welcome Madrid!
Stockholm’s year as European Capital of Gastronomy 2023 is coming to an end.
Two large meetings took place in November: the future-oriented hospitality industry meeting Taste of the Future in the old Meatpacking district, and the international research congress Stockholm Gastronomy Conference at the Stockholm University – together drawing over 500 participants.
During the year Stockholm has been marketed as a gastronomic destination which has gained a lot of press coverage in both international and national media.
Through the Open Call method everyone working with gastronomy in Stockholm has been invited to contribute to the gastronomic event calendar and showcase their events and more.
Among the many gastronomic highlights this year were the pop up of the Regional Meals at Skansen during the National Day and the Stockholm Meal being served at Mathias Dahlgrens Matbaren.
The city’s various actors have also offered an extraordinary amount of both new and established events and festivals.
Guest appearances and special menus at the city’s restaurants have also been popular features. In total, around 100 actors have contributed with gastronomic content to the the calendar on capitalofgastronomy.se showcasing over 200 food and drink events.
In the future, those of you who organize food and drink events in Stockholm can publish them in the calendar on Visit Stockholm’s event page: https://www.visitstockholm.se/event/tipsa-om-evenemang
This year’s great focus on collaboration and co-creation is now being carried forward through the founding of Stockholm’s Restaurant Network. The network’s purpose is to increase cooperation within the restaurant sector in Stockholm in order to both strengthen the industry and develop Stockholm as a gastronomic destination for residents and visitors.
