THE CONFERENCE SOCIAL EVENT

During the Conference we will not only talk about food and gastronomy – we will also enjoy food where the Swedish County Meals and Swedish fika-culture will be the common thread during the conference meals. In order to participate in the Conference’s social events – the dinner at Aula Magna on November 23 and the Conference’s gala dinner on November 25 that will take place in the “Vasa Museum”, next to the historical Vasa ship from 1628 you need to register by November 5th to be guaranteed a spot.

It is possible to bring an accompanying guest to the conference’s social events. Note that an accompanying guest is a spouse, family member or friend who will attend only the social events of the conference. The registration does not include entrance to the scientific lectures. OPENING DINNER, NOVEMBER 23

The meal for the fist evening, November 23rd, which is a get-together dinner at Aula Magna (the conference location), will present some of the regional county dishes as well as other typical dishes from Sweden. STOCKHOLM BY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 24

The evening event on the 24th of November is free to explore the culinary landscape of Stockholm. We are planning some tours to bars in central Stockholm for smaller groups. The tours will be guided by members of the four Academies that are organizing the conference. GALA DINNER, NOVEMBER 25

The Gala Dinner at the Vasa Museum, which will be rather spectacular – particular for those of you who have not yet visited the ship that sank on its virgin journey August 10 1628.

The three dish Gala dinner which will be served at the Vasa Museum in the evening of the 25^th , will also include a guided tour of the old ship. We have also brought in chefs from three regions to cook and tell us out the meals they have provided and the culinary profile of their dishes and the region where it comes from.

Note that it is important to register for the Gala dinner before November 5th to secure a place at the table. Also note that it is wise to dress “warm but still elegant” as we will be served close to the graceful but somewhat chilly ship where the temperature is kept at 18 degrees Celsius.

The Conference’s gala dinner will take place in the “Vasa Museum”, next to the historical Vasa ship. An event by Vasa cannot be compared to anything you have known before and it will definitely be a night to remember! The price includes an aperitif and snack as well as a three-course dinner and drinks where some of the new Swedish landscape meals are served. It also includes a guided tour of the Vasa Ship.

Aula Magna – the conference venue

The Conference will be held at Aula Magna located on Frescativägen 6/Universitetsvägen 10 B-C. Aula Magna is located about five minutes’ walk from the metro, buses, and Roslagsbanan stops “Universitetet”. It can be accessed from the red line by metro, by Roslagsbanan from Östra station and by different buses, more info on the travel planner on SL website.
